About
I am a fiber artist based in Minneapolis MN. Working with fabric and yarn has been part of my life since childhood. It connected me with my grandmothers and provided a way for me to feel control and mastery. It was my "safe space" when things around me weren't so safe.
Fast forward a few decades to today. I have learned so much about myself and the world. I am clearer about what is important to me and NorthStar Fiber Works is the result. Here you will find what happens when I combine my love of all things "fibery" and beautiful with care for nature, respect for science, and building on the wisdom from our ancestors.
My priorities for NorthStar Fiber Works are to use:
Natural fibers and dyes made from organic, minimally processed, ethically grown plants and animals
Purchase fiber grown and processed in the US with priority given to producers in the upper mid-west that share the same values as I do.
Re-use and recycle natural fiber textiles already in the world
Sustainable, thoughtful processes that eliminate or at least minimize damage to our planet.
